The delegate of the Government of Spain in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, has received in the Government Delegation representatives of the associations of families and neighborhoods of the neighborhood of Lavapiés, who have conveyed their concern and claims to the development of the latest police actions in the neighborhood.
In particular, the meeting was attended by representatives of AFA from Emilia Pardo Bazán, AFA from Santa María, AFA from Antonio Moreno Rosales and Dragones Football Club from Lavapiés, who were able to convey to the provincial and district commissioner of the National Police their demands for the development of police work in their streets.
From the meeting, commitments have been made to strengthen coordination, to continue improving the adequacy of police actions with respect to the environment where they take place and always ensuring the safety of minors who may be in the area and to prioritize foot patrolling in front of the vehicle in the park of the Casino de la Reina. On the part of the associations present at the meeting, it was also requested that police actions in the vicinity of school environments and in a neighborhood with the urban layout of Lavapiés contemplate speed limitations to avoid risks caused by excessive speeds.
All the parties have agreed on the need to address in a multilateral way, from the social, health and security field, among others, the challenges present in the neighborhood of Lavapiés and that, for this, the importance of carrying out tripartite tables in which other competent administrations such as the City Council or the Community of Madrid participate. The delegation tells the associations present that this demand has been repeatedly rejected by both institutions at the request of the delegate.
On the part of the associations present at the meeting, it has been insisted that many of the situations that are experienced daily in the Casino Park are not exclusive to the park, but to the whole neighborhood. For this reason, they demand from the Administrations joint working tables and dialogue. “We believe in a comprehensive solution that goes beyond police actions.”
The final commitment on the part of the participants in the meeting has been to give continuity to the work begun today in this meeting, with periodic meetings in which the progress achieved is evaluated.
