The city of Madrid has recorded 4000 fewer crimes in 2025 than in the same period of the previous year, and the capital presents the best crime data since 20214. This was evident during the Council and the Local Security Board that took place today at the headquarters of the Government Delegation.
Co-chaired by the government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, the reports of the State Security Forces and Corps of the year 2024 have been presented. In addition, the report of the Municipal Police of Madrid has been released.
The board was also attended by the Government’s deputy delegate, Pilar Trinidad, as well as security and emergency officials and the spokespersons of the municipal groups of the plenary of the Madrid City Council.
The delegate began his speech by making a plea to “eradicate the hate messages that criminalize certain groups,” and insisting on the advisability of setting up tripartite tables as a suitable way to address the social urgencies that are identified in some neighborhoods of the city.
Francisco Martín has insisted on the importance of recovering collaboration and cooperation between administrations in this and all areas such as, for example, in the fight against gender violence.
In this regard, he recalled that the Madrid City Council has not yet renewed the Collaboration Agreement between the Secretary of State for Security and the City Council for the incorporation of the Local Police Force into the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence, expired with the entry into force of Law 40/2015, and urged them to have a new meeting to address this issue “as soon as possible”, since the Ministry of the Interior has already proposed it.
Finally, he reiterated his request to strengthen the coordination of security devices in spaces such as Iberdorla Music. In this regard, he recalled that several meetings have been held to address the security deficiencies of this enclosure and the inconveniences caused by the events that take place there to the neighbors of the area, in which commitments were reached but the reality is that “absolutely nothing has been done about it”.
Therefore, has again insisted on the need for the Government of the Community of Madrid to draw up a new Law on Public Spectacles and Recreational Activities, given that the current one is from 1997 and, in his opinion, does not respond to the demands and characteristics of the major events that are being held more and more frequently in the city. And he has shown his desire for this new legislation to be “a rule of consensus.”
Security data
The crime data collected in the statistics of the Security Forces and Corps presented at the meeting, corresponding to the year 2025 (until September 30), although not yet consolidated, are revealed as the best data since 2014.
Both conventional crime (as many robberies as thefts decrease) and cybercrime have been reduced, while police effectiveness is growing.
In this regard, the government delegate, without wanting to fall into triumphalism, wanted to “recognize and value” the work done by the agents in obtaining these figures.
