The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, has continued during the month of July the agenda of meetings with social actors, key sectors and political groups to continue promoting collaboration in the fight against sexual violence from all areas.
Children are one of the groups most vulnerable to this problem and, in this context, the delegate has held a meeting today with the associations Save The Children, UNICEF, Fundación ANAR and Platform of Children's Organizations of Madrid (POI Madrid). The head of the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation, Eva Corrales Melero, was also present.
During the meeting, the attendees have analyzed the latest statistics in the Community of Madrid and the reality behind these figures, with the aim of promoting common initiatives dedicated to the defense of children. Among other proposals, social entities have advocated strengthening preventive measures, as well as allocating greater resources for child victims of sexual violence.
“The social fabric calls for greater prevention and education measures, with the recovery of affective and sexual education programs, which are currently absent in Madrid’s classrooms. The resources that the regional government is making available to victims are also considered insufficient. From the Government Delegation in Spain we are going to continue working on this matter, continuing with the round of meetings of all the agents involved” said the delegate.
