- Francisco Martín highlights the importance of claiming the rights already conquered so that “the advanced is not put in danger”
Everything is ready for the celebration this Saturday, July 5 of the Pride demonstration in Madrid, as explained today by the representatives of the LGTBI+ Collective of Madrid COGAM to the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, during the visit that he has made to his headquarters.
There he was received by Ronny de la Cruz, president of COGAM, who showed him how the preparations are finalized, the banners that will lead the march are finished or the work of workers and volunteers is organized.
This same afternoon, the first great moment of the celebrations for Pride 2025 will be experienced with the proclamation that will serve as a starting point for the festive and vindicating programming of Pride LGTBI+ Madrid 2025.
In the next few days there will be other related activities until the most important event, that of Saturday, in the state demonstration, whose organization is one of the responsible COGAM.
With this visit, Francisco Martín wanted to thank the association for its commitment and work in defending and claiming the rights of the collective for more than 30 years, and reaffirmed the support of the Government Delegation to the demonstration on Saturday, which will have the necessary security and logistical conditions, which were coordinated at the Security Board held last week.
Likewise, it has stressed the need to continue claiming the rights already won against those who threaten them so that “the advanced is not put at risk”, and to emphasize education in tolerance towards diversity as a guarantee for the future and as an antidote against hate crimes that, from the Government Delegation, are fought through the improvement of the protection of the victims and greater training of the personnel of the Security Forces and Bodies that serve them.
COGAM is the LGTB+ community in Madrid that has been working for more than 30 years for the equality of LGTB+ people. It is one of the founding entities of FELGTB and one of the promoters, from the first moment, of equal marriage in Spain.
