- Francisco Martín has been received by the mayor of the town, Francisca Suárez
- The delegate has assured that the Government of Spain will be “next to” those affected
The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, accompanied by the mayor of Titulcia, Francisca Suárez, and farmers of the town have visited the areas of cultivation that have been affected by the floods of recent weeks.
The flood of the Jarama River and the overflow of the Tajuña River have flooded hundreds of hectares of land in the municipality where mainly garlic, cereals, peas and barley are grown.
Francisco Martín stressed that the abundant rains have constituted an “exceptional episode” that has meant an “effort of management, surveillance and response by hundreds of public servants of the three administrations” that have allowed us not to have to regret personal damage.
However, there has been material damage, such as those suffered by the primary sector of the Vega de Tajuña area and other areas of the Community of Madrid, which now needs to be evaluated. In this regard, Francisco Martín wanted to send a message to farmers and all citizens that they will be able to count on the Government of Spain “that has been, is and is going to be” with those affected.
Although the improvement in weather conditions has reduced the operational situation of the Community of Madrid Floods Plan to level 0, the government delegate has pointed out that the river channels are still very high and that, until they return to their normal state, the complete evaluation will not be possible.
This visit is in addition to those made in recent days by Francisco Martín to other localities that have suffered floods such as San Fernando de Henares, Amelia del Campo or Camarma de Esteruelas.
