The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, held today a meeting with the president of CEIM Confederación Empresarial de Madrid-CEOE, Miguel Garrido, in which he proposed to strengthen and expand the lines of collaboration already opened.
At the meeting, he was accompanied by the Government’s deputy delegate, Pilar Trinidad, while, on behalf of CEIM, the President, the General Secretary of CEIM, Sara Molero, and the Director of Labor Affairs of CEIM, Luis Méndez, attended.
Francisco Martín has highlighted the good evolution of national economic policy in the European context, being the one that recorded the greatest economic growth in 2024, and what the forecasts indicate is that this trend will continue in the coming years.
He has defended that this good economic performance of Spain, as a result of the economic policies applied by the Government in recent years, is also having a “clearly positive impact on the Community of Madrid”. In this regard, he recalled that, since the beginning of the government of Pedro Sánchez, the national unemployment rate has fallen by 4.7 points, an evolution that has also been felt in the Community of Madrid, which has remained below the national average, with a rate of 8.6% and a reduction of 3.5 points.
“This economic growth is having a positive impact on both companies and workers in Madrid, being the Community of Madrid one of the biggest increases in wages in recent years. The Madrid workers are the second best paid in Spain.”, added Martín.
In addition to strengthening collaboration on logistics, security and emergencies, the delegate has proposed to Garrido to collaborate in the deployment of renewable energies in the region, as well as in the coordination in the application of the new regulation on foreigners.
