The town of Navas del Rey has today constituted the Local Security Board of the municipality in which the actions for the incorporation of its Local Police into the VioGén system of integral protection of victims of gender violence have been initiated.
The constitutive session was co-chaired by the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, and the mayor of Navas del Rey, Jaime Peral. The head of the Command of the Civil Guard of Madrid, Colonel Carlos de Miguel, and the head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, Eva Corrales, among others, have also attended.
Francisco Martín has pointed out that this is an “important day” for Navas del Rey and for the Community of Madrid that will promote coordination in the field of security and will contribute to its strengthening.
In the Board, the security data of Navas del Rey have been reviewed, where the crime rate is 20 points below the average of the Community of Madrid and where “the rates of police effectiveness improve every year”, said the delegate.
Steps towards integration in VioGen
In addition, this first Board has signed the ‘Operational procedure of coordination and collaboration between the Command of the Civil Guard of Madrid, and the Excmo. City Council of Navas del Rey (Madrid)’, comprehensive response against gender violence, and the ‘Protocol of collaboration and coordination between the State Security Forces and the police forces for the protection of victims of domestic and gender violence’, necessary steps for the incorporation of its Local Police into the VioGén System.
Francisco Martín thanked the mayor for his commitment to this fight that is materialized with these signatures, an “important” step that helps to give confidence to women to come to denounce and whose example he hopes will be emulated in other municipalities that have even more local police personnel. He recalled that, in the region, there are more than 15,000 active cases. “Therefore, the step you are taking today is fundamental to the fight against gender violence, which I hope will inspire other municipalities,” she said.
Visit to the new Civil Guard facilities
After the Junta, the attendees have moved to the works of the new facilities of the Civil Guard, which will be more accessible and will have a detention center, and which are expected to be completed this year.
The government delegate wanted to acknowledge the generosity of the municipality and its contribution to improving the working conditions of the civil guards who serve in this location, something that will benefit the safety of the entire region.
