The workers of the Delegation of the Government, headed by the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo; the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín; and the subdelegate of the Government, Pilar Trinidad, have observed a minute of silence as a sign of revulsion, rejection and condemnation before the last murder of a 48-year-old woman for alleged gender violence in the province of Malaga, on February 9.
On this occasion, the person in charge of the subsequent reading of the institutional declaration of condemnation was the Government’s deputy delegate to the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad, who recalled that this is the second woman killed by gender violence in 2025 and 1,295 since 2003. In addition, since 2013, 62 children have been killed for gender-based violence against their mothers, and 467 children have been orphaned by gender-based violence in Spain.
At the end of the minute of silence, the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, has asked the media that “all the institutions, the Spanish democracy as a whole, the judges, the State Security Forces and Corps, all, must be firmly united to protect women and never minimize the risk they may be suffering”.
Once again, this minute of silence has been held simultaneously in all the delegations and subdelegations of Spain within the framework of the new “Protocol of condemnation and revulsion against murders due to gender violence” that aims to offer a joint institutional response to any murder caused by gender violence and vicarious violence, as well as support and solidarity with the victims, their relatives, and people close to them.
Finally, the statement reviewed all the communication methods available to victims, such as 016, online consultations through the email 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, the WhatsApp channel on the number 600 000 016 and online chat, accessible from the website violenciagenero.igualdad.gob.es, operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
