The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, today thanked the approximately 40 local police from almost twenty municipalities in the region for their assistance in the training day on the operation of the integral system of protection of women suffering from gender violence (VioGén system) that has been taught at the headquarters of the Government Delegation in Madrid.
The government delegate welcomed them by pointing out that with this type of activity what is achieved is to “send a message of unity” to the women victims, to those who are within the system and, above all, “to those who are not, but should be”, that everything possible is done for their protection. “We’re all in the same boat,” he added.
Along with the gratitude for their participation and for the work they do daily in their municipalities, also in terms of the protection of women victims of gender violence in collaboration with the rest of the State Security Forces and Corps, he has urged them to be “ambassadors” of the VioGén system with other colleagues to achieve the goal that “all municipalities in the Community of Madrid that have Local Police are incorporated as soon as possible”.
For her part, the deputy delegate of the Government of Spain to the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad, who has been in charge of inaugurating the day and welcoming the attendees, has highlighted that their presence already indicates that all of them have “the necessary attitude” to face “the great challenge” that they face every day in the fight against gender violence.
Development of the day
The Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in Madrid has been in charge of the organization of the day, in which, in addition to its head, chief inspector Eva Corrales, police experts have participated; the psychologist specialized in the subject Paula Roldán; the Deputy Director General of Comprehensive Care for Victims and Prevention of Gender Violence, of the General Directorate of Equality, Alicia Plaza; Lawyer of the Administration of Justice of the Court of Violence against Women No. 6 of Madrid, Isabel López.
In their presentations, they have addressed issues such as State and regional resources and services aimed at the care and recovery of victims of gender violence; on the psychosocial understanding of the process in women and minors; police procedures and good practices in the field of gender violence and protection and follow-up; and on the operation of the Integrated System of Records of the Administration of Justice (SIRAJ) in the Courts of Violence Against Women.
The objective of these days is to provide specialized and comprehensive basic training to the agents who care for victims of gender violence, as well as those who, by their fate, have or may have direct contact with victims of crimes of this nature.
