The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has presided today together with the mayor of San Martín de la Vega, Rafael Martínez, an Extraordinary Local Security Board in which he has announced that the definitive transfer of the Third Company of the Civil Guard to San Martín de la Vega will be completed and formalized, in addition to a reinforcement of the staff of agents in the post of the municipality.
With these measures, the government delegate wants to reverse the increase in crimes recorded in the first half of the year in the town, due in part to the low figures in absolute terms recorded in the previous periods, and recover data that “have always been good”.
In the latest crime balance, there has been one more crime associated with conventional criminality every three days and provisional figures for the third quarter point to a recovery of data from 2023.
The head of the Civil Guard in Madrid, Colonel Diego Pérez de los Cobos, as well as representatives of the Local Police and the Civil Guard operating in San Martín de la Vega, have been present at the Board in which the government delegate has thanked the collaboration and coordination of the Security Corps in the area and their rapid intervention by convening an Extraordinary Board.
The Civil Guard has agreed to assess that it is a very safe municipality, 12 points below the average crime rate in the Community of Madrid.
Crime balance
San Martín de la Vega has a crime rate of 44, 82 points, a 5.96 higher than 2023. Even so, it is lower than the one recorded by the Community of Madrid, which stands at 60.3 points.
In the last six months, there have been no murders, not even attempted murders, and there has been a decrease in violent robberies and the theft of vehicles. However, there has been an increase in injury crimes, crimes against sexual freedom, burglary, theft and drug trafficking.
