The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, visited today the Advanced Command Post from which the work of extinguishing the fire that began yesterday afternoon in Tres Cantos has been coordinated. The fire also affected the municipality of Colmenar Viejo, specifically several houses in the El Rondelo urbanization, an adjoining horse riding school and several hectares of agricultural land.
He has then toured the affected areas accompanied by Civil Guard troops. On the ground, the government delegate has been able to see at first hand the place where the fire originated, as well as the adjacent areas affected by the fire.
The government delegate has explained to the media that the cause of the fire is being investigated and that it is allegedly due to a negligence that began in the ditch of a roundabout by the launch of a butt. Francisco Martín has called for responsibility and has asked for “maximum prudence to all citizens since the risk of fire remains extreme throughout our region.”
Thirty fire brigades from the Community of Madrid, forest brigades and forest agents from the region with heavy machinery and 4 helicopters have worked in the extinguishment work, in addition to the Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigades of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. In the middle of the afternoon, level 2 of the Fire Emergency Plan (INFOMA) was activated, mobilizing the First Emergency Intervention Battalion of the UME, although finally its action was not necessary.
The fire, which began around 2 p.m., leaves 7 people intoxicated by smoke inhalation, two of them Civil Guard agents who worked on the work of extinguishment, the preventive eviction of the residents of the urbanization El Rondelo de Colmenar Viejo and 535 hectares of burned grass.
