· In 2023, 19 riders died in the Community of Madrid and 9 in the first six months of this year
The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, attended this lunchtime the development of a motorcycle control device carried out by agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard.
This device is developed within the framework of a specific campaign of the General Directorate of Traffic for the control and surveillance of motorcycles on the roads and aims to reduce the accident rate of this type of vehicle.
Francisco Martín was accompanied by the provincial head of Traffic of Madrid, Cristóbal Cremades Rodríguez, and by the lieutenant colonel of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard of Madrid, Benito Monzón. The mobile checkpoint was established at the M-50 roundabout with M-513, at the entrance to Boadilla del Monte.
In statements to the media, the government delegate has called on motorcyclists to exercise extreme caution and prudence on the roads, to respect traffic rules, not to exceed maximum speeds and to carry out overtaking properly.
Increased surveillance on motorcycles
During the summer weekends, agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard are increasing surveillance on the roads most frequented by motorcyclists, in order to control compliance with the most important rules affecting the driving of motorcycles.
Information and prevention campaign
To this surveillance, an information and prevention action will be added from the next few days, where the agents of the Traffic Group will deliver to the motorcyclists a triptych and a decalogue on road safety.
The triptych, with the title “We want you back, we want you for sure”, makes a tour of how to make a motorcycle trip, from the same moment that it is decided that the motorcycle is going to be the means of travel. Advice is given to travel with the 5 senses, special mention is made of the consequences of erroneous equipment, and the most common imprudences that can have unwanted consequences and the most common infractions that these users of the two wheels usually commit are remembered.
The Decalogue of Prevention of Road Accidents in Motorcycle Driving recalls that the prevention of accidents must be a permanent objective for any driver, and especially in motorcycle, due to the vulnerability of the environment. To do this, ten essential tips are given to avoid any incident on the road and remember that the road is not a racing circuit and that the important thing is to return.
Motorcyclists accident
In 2023, 19 motorcyclists died in the Community of Madrid and 9 in the first six months of this year. Therefore, the General Directorate of Traffic is implementing measures to help reduce this type of accident.
Motorcyclists are a vulnerable group that needs more protection and that is why the use of the airbag for motorcyclists and proper clothing and the use of gloves is recommended.
