- The government delegate appreciates the work that Team Europe does to spread the values of the EU and highlights the impact that the Union has in our country
The winners of the regional phase of the Olympics on the EU organized by Team Europe received their diplomas yesterday afternoon from the Government delegate, Francisco Martín, and the Government subdelegate, Pilar Trinidad, in an event held in the Column Room of the Government Delegation in Madrid.
These EU Olympics, aimed at students, in groups of five, 4th year of ESO and 1st year of Baccalaureate, are an opportunity to learn about the European institutions and elections, connecting with institutional leaders and other students and teachers with similar concerns.
The Olympics have a regional phase that has been held in 12 autonomous communities. The classifieds of each community get a place for the final phase that will be held in Salamanca from April 19 to 21.
Very important impact of the European Union
In his closing speech, the delegate of the Government, Francisco Martín, thanked Team Europe for having chosen “the house of the Government of Spain in Madrid” as the place for the delivery of the diplomas of the Olympics, and highlighted the “very important” impact that the European Union has in our country.
Francisco Martín gave as an example of this impact the Next Generation Funds of the Recovery Plan launched by the European Union after the pandemic, “which have reached many municipalities in Madrid, have generated economic dynamism and have generated employment. And people need to know that.” Therefore, “we must talk about Europe on a daily basis, insist on the Europeanist message every day, so that citizens are aware of what they are doing”, he added.
And that is where it is necessary to count on the generation of young Europeanists “because Europe is the present, but Europe is your future. And young people must have a very active role in the defense of Europe”, also in the face of “the real threat of anti-European populism”, considered the government delegate.
