The Government Delegation in Madrid will activate a security device made up of almost 1900 troops for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals that will be played tomorrow, Tuesday, April 9, by Real Madrid and Manchester City, at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, starting at 9:00 p.m. This meeting has been classified as high-risk by the Anti-Violence Commission.
The operation, which will be in charge of monitoring the areas surrounding the stadium to prevent incidents, will be made up of National Police agents —from the Police Intervention Unit, the Special Cavalry Unit and the Provincial Information Brigade—; the Municipal Police of Madrid; components of the SAMUR-Civil Protection; the Fire Brigade; members of the Red Cross, and security guards and assistants of the football club itself.
The attendance of 4100 English fans with tickets is expected, in a stadium where 76,000 spectators will meet.
To expedite the work of the agents, it is recommended that all stadium attendees attend in advance to pass the established security controls.
