The government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, continues with his round of meetings with economic, political and social agents to analyze the context in which our region is located.
In the field of labour, Martín has held meetings this week with representatives of the CCOO and UGT trade unions with whom he has addressed the employment situation in the region.
The first meeting was held last Tuesday, January 23, with the general secretary of CCOO Madrid, Paloma López Bermejo.
Later, on Thursday the 25th, the delegate met with Marina Prieto, general secretary of UGT Madrid, Margarita Domínguez, deputy general secretary of UGT Madrid and José María Casero, secretary of organization of UGT Madrid.
Analyze context to address problems
These contacts respond to the interest of the government delegate to maintain a fluid and permanent communication with the social agents in order to continue responding to the real problems of the people of Madrid. In this area, among the most important challenges to be addressed are job insecurity, the gender gap or unemployment.
Data such as that, of the total number of unemployed people in the Community of Madrid, 120,788 are men and 175,077 are women, show the gender gap in absolute unemployment values, showing that women account for around 60% of total unemployment.
Unemployment also has a special impact on young people. One in three young people in Madrid under the age of 25 is unemployed.
Realities that show the importance of maintaining social dialogue at the highest level. The sharing of the employment situation in our region allows us to work on future strategies in this field, within the competences of the Delegation as representative of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid.
