The City of Collado-Villalba has today signed the accession of its Local Police to the “Protocol of Collaboration and Coordination between the State Security Forces and the Local Police Forces for the protection of victims of domestic and gender violence”, necessary for its integration into the VioGén System of comprehensive monitoring of cases of gender violence.
It was in the course of the Local Security Board of the municipality, co-chaired by the government delegate, Francisco Martín, and the mayor of Collado-Villalba, Mª Dolores Vargas. In this way, the incorporation procedure promoted by the Department of Security and the Government Delegation itself ends, with the aim of getting all the localities of the region that has local police to join this system.
The meeting also approved the signing of the “Operational Procedure of Coordination and Collaboration between the Command of the Civil Guard of Madrid and the City of Collado-Villalba, of integral response against gender violence”. Under this agreement, the Local Police of Collado-Villalba will share the data that the Civil Guard has on cases of gender violence in the municipality and will participate in its follow-up for a more effective protection of victims of gender violence.
Good security situation in the municipality
Prior to these signatures, a review has been made of the security situation of the municipality, whose data show a positive evolution in 2023, since the crime rate of the last twelve months is at levels well below the years before the pandemic and significantly lower than those of last year. In particular, it is on average 45.4% (compared to 48% in 2022), after registering a decrease of -7.9% in the first quarter, of -10.7%, and of -7% in the third quarter.
There are already 35 municipalities in VioGén
With the incorporation of Collado-Villalba, there are already 35 municipalities in the Community of Madrid whose Local Police participate in the VioGén system of comprehensive follow-up of cases of gender violence.
These municipalities are: Alcalá de Henares, Alcobendas, Alcorcón, Aranjuez, Arganda del Rey, Boadilla del Monte, Brunete, Colmenar Viejo, Daganzo de Arriba, Fuenlabrada, Getafe, Leganés, Madrid, Majadahonda, Moralzarzal, Móstoles, Parla, Pinto, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Las Rozas de Madrid, San Agustín de Guadalix, Villadosol
The Government Delegation is currently holding talks with several municipalities to ensure that their local police remain or are integrated into this system to combat gender-based violence.
