The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded, through Adif and for about 8 million euros (VAT included), the marking of its new maintenance base, in the railway complex of Fuencarral, which will replace the track and infrastructure maintenance ship of Chamartín.
The action includes the new signalling and telecommunications facilities and the control, command and signalling (CMS) facilities, both for the base and for its link with the general roads, and will be carried out by Siemens Rail Automation.
The new maintenance base of Adif, in execution with an investment of 5.1 million euros, is located north of the capital, in the railway complex of Fuencarral. The base will have a ship distributed in three areas: workshop, warehouse and offices, with a total of 1,686 m2 built.
It will also have four mango tracks; two of them will have a topera inside the nave. The inland waterway beach will occupy an area of 1,723 m2 . On the east side of the road beach, the land will be conditioned for the movement of heavy vehicles, thus allowing the collection of material. The exterior of the building, with a parking area, will be urbanized.
Currently, the building is practically finished and progress is made in the preparation of the land to develop the beach of roads and the exterior urbanization. The main access to the base will be made from Chamartín through the C-4 line (Parla-Colmenar Viejo/Alcobendas-San Sebastián de los Reyes), which has double electrified track of Iberian width.

Adif has also awarded this month of December the remodelling works of the Vicálvaro freight terminal, for an amount of 32.4 million euros and those of the new station of La Tenería in Pinto, for an amount of 10.6 million euros, which means a total award of 50 million euros in works in the Community of Madrid.
This action contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), which has among its goals the development of reliable, sustainable, resilient and quality infrastructures.
