The Government’s delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, today presided over the inauguration of the Integral Center “Casa del Mayor” in Manzanares El Real.
Together with the mayor of Manzanares El Real, José Luis Labrador; the Councilor for Education, Culture and Seniors, Lara Palomino; and the general director of the Mayor and the Unit, Juan José García, has opened the doors of this center that will be a space of use and enjoyment for all seniors, with new services and activities.
Rehabilitation of a municipal building
The “Casa del Mayor” is located in the municipal building that accommodated the library and the well-known “CAPI”, and which has been rehabilitated to be a space intended to provide specific services and to be a meeting point for the elderly.
The building, built under the parameters of energy efficiency - with LED lights and air conditioning by aerothermia -, is integrated into the surroundings of the Plaza del Pueblo and consists of three floors connected by an elevator. In addition, it has a surrounding and visitable outdoor patio of 90 square meters.
Among the services that the elders of Manzanares El Real will have at their disposal are: a podiatry cabinet, rest and reading room, a living room, with bar and cafeteria and a multipurpose room, which can be used for the celebration of meetings or workshops, dance or gymnastics classes.
