Luis Berrutti, painter and sculptor, stars in a new episode of the campaign #TalentMadrid, of the Government Delegation to the Community. With an extensive and recognized trajectory, Berrutti has become a prominent figure in contemporary art, challenging boundaries and exploring new forms of expression. He has developed his own style, which combines abstract and figurative elements, creating works in which fusion and energy are intertwined in a captivating way.
As an artist, he highlights his facet as a sculptor, in which he works with materials such as recycled iron, stone, recycled wood from the sea or mud. Their technical mastery of materials shows us their vision when it comes to spitting or modeling, transforming these materials and reclaiming their new life, until they find the way to express themselves.
Berrutti, who was born in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1944 and has been living in Spain for almost fifty years, is based in the Sierra de Madrid, in the town of Valdemanco. Its location in this area will mark his work, with the strength and energy of the landscape of La Cabrera and the changing light of each season of the year. Before moving to Madrid he worked in Ibiza and Toledo, as well as beginnings in his home country and scholarships in Paris and other European countries. His works can be found in museums and in private collections.
The Berrutti Foundation
Luis Berrutti has not only excelled as an artist, but also as a mentor and teacher, sharing his knowledge and experience with artists of later generations. For this work, in 2006, with Charo Villa, the Berrutti Foundation, dedicated to research in contemporary art, and also to give diffusion and continuity to his work, with reception of young artists of very different spatialities. In this sense, he teaches training courses and workshops in ceramics, engraving and painting.
Campaign #TalentMadrid
The Government Delegation in Madrid has launched on social networks the campaign with the hashtag #TalentMadrid to support initiatives and people who live and/or develop their activity in the region and who stand out in a wide variety of disciplines, artistic, sports, scientific or social, among others.
The campaign premiered with the members of the billiard club Madrid Escuela Nacional which, after twelve years of existence, boasts being the most laureate in Spain, and which this year has been proclaimed national champion. (Among her partners is Estela Cardoso, eleven times champion of Spain and runner-up of Europe).
The following installments of the campaign were starring: Javier Fernández Panadero (who has just published a book dedicated to Artificial Intelligence); María Mittelbrunn, a researcher at the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), a leader in the field of immunometabolism; and the magician champion of Cartomagic in 2022, Pepo Capel, whose fusion of traditional magic with new technologies has made him one of the most innovative magicians of the moment.
The list of talents will continue to add names in the coming weeks until completing a diverse overview of all the talent that the Community of Madrid has in the most different areas.
