- The authors applaud this initiative that has allowed them to present their vision of this form of violence
The authors of the winning videos of the youth short film contest organized by the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid wanted to share how has been the experience of creating an audiovisual content on this subject and explain it for the campaign “Committed against Gender Violence”.
Edurne Fernández-Verdugo, author of Yet, winner in category I (from 12 to 16 years), explains that in her institute in Fuenlabrada they are especially aware of this issue due to the fact that one of her former students, Alía, was murdered by her partner in 2016. Since then, the center has an awareness project in which Edurne participates and, when she learned of the contest, she was encouraged to participate because she considered it “a wonderful idea to inspire” boys and girls like her.
For their part, the twins Ana and María Gallego, and Abril Rodríguez, authors of Punto Nemo, the winning video in category II (from 17 to 22 years), have shown their desire for their short film “to serve to make visible gender violence and this fight”.
