- National Police Subinspector José María Martín explains the strengths of this tool: integration of all information about a victim and police assessment of the risk running
The integration of all relevant information on victims of gender violence to which all public institutions with competence in this field can have access is one of the strengths of the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence (VioGén System), around which the latest video of the campaign “Committed against Gender Violence”, which has been developed this week by the Government Delegation in Madrid, revolves.
The National Police sub-inspector José María Martín explains that this monitoring and protection tool also allows to make a risk prediction and apply the most appropriate protocols to give the necessary protection to victims and their children, as well as to monitor each case to adjust security measures.
The police assessment of the risk of a victim of gender-based violence is an operational tool of vital importance in the VioGen System, since it allows the police specialists who carry out them to determine the level of danger of suffering new aggressions that the affected woman runs, determine the most appropriate protocols to give the necessary protection to both herself and her children if they are affected, as well as monitor the evolution of each case to adjust security measures to the changes that may occur over time.
Objective of the Government Delegation: to integrate into the system the largest number of Municipal Police
There are currently 33 municipalities in the Community of Madrid whose local police are fully integrated into the VioGén system for the comprehensive protection of women victims of gender violence.
The Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid is working for the municipalities of Madrid that have local police to sign the protocols and the collaboration agreement that will enable them to join the VioGén system. The effective operation of this system is possible thanks to the collaboration between the State Security Forces and the Municipal Police Forces or the Local Police
VioGene: 16 years in operation
The VioGén system was put into operation on July 26, 2007, in compliance with the provisions of Organic Law 1/2004, of December 28, "of Measures of Integral Protection against Gender Violence".
Its objective is to establish a dense network that allows the rapid, comprehensive and effective monitoring and protection of battered women, and their sons and daughters, in any part of the national territory.
