The Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, presided this morning at the commemorative event of the patron saint of the Civil Guard, the Virgen del Pilar, held at the Battle of the Salado, headquarters of the Headquarters of the 1st Zone of the Civil Guard, accompanied by the deputy operational director of the Civil Guard, Lieutenant General Pablo Salas, and by the division general of the 1st Zone of Madrid, José Antonio Berrocal.
In his speech, Francisco Martín highlighted the daily work carried out by the members of the Civil Guard and all its units in the Community of Madrid. In particular, she has referred to the work they do to protect women victims of gender-based violence and in the fight against cybercrime.
The government delegate also recalled the action of the Civil Guard in the extreme storm that caused floods in the southwest of the Community, for which we had to mourn two people who died. “And yet, there could have been many more if the Civil Guard had not responded with total professionalism and example. Congratulations to all the guards, troops and commanders who were at the bottom of the canyon that night and continued the following days in the search for the missing persons.”
Francisco Martín reiterated the commitment of the Government of Spain to the Civil Guard, which translates into the improvements that in the last five years have been implemented in their working conditions: “We are at record highs in human resources in this region”; “investment has been increased and work materials improved, with new vehicles and new dependencies”; and “the salary improvement of Civil Guard personnel is notorious and patented”. “The improvement of the body in these last five years is undeniable. And my commitment is that this momentum will continue its path.”
The government delegate dedicated a few words of recognition to the trajectory of General Berrocal, who in the coming months will go into retirement, for his 40 years of service to Spain and the Civil Guard.
