- Public employees of the Government Delegation, with the delegate in front, also keep before their headquarters another minute of silence to show their rejection for this crime
The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, this morning joined the minute of silence called by the City of Madrid in Plaza de Cibeles, in a sign of revulsion for the murder of a woman at the hands of her partner, last Sunday in the district of Villaverde, and of condemnation of gender violence.
At the end of the act, Francisco Martín said that, with this death, the fourth in the Madrid Community so far this year and the number 49 in all of Spain, the number of women killed by gender violence last year is equal. “It is a dramatic figure that should lead us to continue working together and not allow any excuse in the fight against male violence,” he said.
Finally, the government delegate has insisted that women who suffer gender-based violence denounce it and trust the State Security Forces and Bodies. “We must continue to make all the educational efforts and all the political efforts and in all areas to try to eradicate the culture of male violence,” he stressed.
The Government Delegation in Madrid also observed at 11:00 hours another minute of silence before its headquarters, which has been joined by numerous public employees, with delegate Francisco Martín at the head, in a sign of revulsion for this crime of gender violence suffered by Miguela, the 35-year-old woman neighbor of Villaverde.
