The Government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, held a working meeting today with the Assistant Director-General for Institutional Relations and Territorial Coordination of Penitentiary Institutions, Olga Ballesteros García, with whom he has supervised the penitentiary administration in the Community of Madrid.
The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Government Delegation, is part of the meetings that Francisco Martín is holding this month with those responsible for all the functional areas and services provided by the General Administration of the State in the Community of Madrid.
The purposes of prison administration (the re-education and social reintegration of those sentenced to custodial penalties and penal measures, as well as the retention and custody of detainees, prisoners and prisoners) require the proper planning and management of personal and material resources.
The Community of Madrid has seven regular penitentiary centres and three social integration centres. The penitentiary centres are: Madrid I and II in Alcalá de Henares; Madrid III in Valdemoro; Madrid IV in Navalcarnero; Madrid V in Soto del Real; Madrid VI in Aranjuez, and Madrid VII in Estremera.
The centres for social inclusion are: “Victoria Kent”, in the old prison of Yeserías in the center of Madrid; “Melchor Rodríguez”, in Alcalá de Henares, and Josefina Aldecoa, in Navalcarnero.
In addition, there is an internal Mothers unit in Madrid VI (Aranjuez) and another external Mothers unit dependent on the center “Victoria Kent”.
