· The government delegate in Madrid attends in Cibeles the minute of silence called by the City Council, in a sign of condemnation and revulsion for the murder of a woman neighbor of Moratalaz
· Public employees of the Government Delegation keep another minute of silence before their headquarters as a sign of revulsion
The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, joined this noon the minute of silence called by the City of Madrid in the Plaza de Cibeles, as a sign of revulsion for the murder of a woman at the hands of her partner, last week in the neighborhood of Moratalaz, and of condemnation of gender violence.
At the end of the event, Francisco Martín said that “male violence is a disaster in our society against which we must continue to fight relentlessly, without hesitation, without doubt, by sending unequivocal messages, but also by making decisions, taking sides and leaving aside those who insist on continuing to deny this reality. Unity is very important and we will continue to fight relentlessly to achieve it. Therefore, from the unity of the parties, the institutions and the administrations we must continue to make every effort to end the male violence.”
With this new confirmed case of gender violence, there are three women murdered for this reason in the Community of Madrid so far this year, 36 throughout Spain and 1,220 women murdered since 2003, the year in which data were started to be recorded.
The Government Delegation also observed at 1 p.m. another minute of silence before its headquarters, which has been joined by numerous public employees, in a sign of revulsion for this crime of gender violence suffered by the 52-year-old woman neighbor of Moratalaz.
