- The delegate calls for the involvement of the Transport Consortium to jointly address the necessary reinforcements during the execution of the planned improvement works, essential cooperation so that they affect mobility as little as possible
- “I consider it essential that the President of the Community has clear and truthful data on the action of the Government of Spain in the region and for this reason I have delivered the report ‘Complying’ with verified information”
- “I want to emphasize the willingness of the Government of Spain to dialogue and agreement to solve the problems of the citizens of Madrid. I extend my hand to the Community of Madrid and to each municipality to work and cooperate for the general interest”
The Government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has today proposed the creation of a ‘Public Housing Table’ with the participation of the Government Delegation, the Community of Madrid and the Federation of Municipalities of Madrid. “A tripartite space to share and coordinate the multiple actions that the administrations are carrying out or planning in the field of housing,” said Francisco Martín. “We know that access to housing is one of the main difficulties for citizens, for young people in Madrid and for the not-so-young population.”
This was conveyed by the delegate to the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, during the first meeting of an institutional nature that both have held today in the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of the Presidency of the Community, which was also attended by the subdelegate of the Government, Elena Bernardo.
Regional Transport Consortium
Likewise, the Government delegate considers it urgent that the Technical Committee of the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid (CRTM) be convened “to jointly address the necessary reinforcements during the execution of the planned improvement works, not only in the network of Renfe, but in those of Metro and, in general, of the entire public transport system of the Community of Madrid”. “We have asked the president to convene that Technical Committee, with the presence of the Government’s subdelegate, as indicated by law, and the elaboration of a Multimodal Contingency Plan,” said Francisco Martín during his appearance before the media.
Report Delivery ‘Complying’
The government delegate also explained that since her appointment at the end of last month she has expressed her willingness to hold this meeting because it seems “fundamental that the president has clear and truthful data on the action of the government of Spain in the Community of Madrid”. “I want a collaborative relationship between institutions because this will positively benefit the citizens of Madrid. And let it be honest and based on proven facts.”
“Therefore, I have delivered to the president of the last report ‘Complying’ of the Government of Spain, territorialized in the Community of Madrid, where the evolution of compliance with the commitments made by the central Executive with information and contrasted data is recorded. An exemplary accountability exercise available to all citizens and that, I believe, it will be useful for the president to have at hand,” said Francisco Martín.
Cooperation, agreement and dialogue
Likewise, the government delegate has stressed “the willingness of the Government of Spain to dialogue and agreement to solve the problems of the people of Madrid”. “We are living in a time of high-sounding words and sometimes absurdities that do not benefit the citizens at all, on the contrary, they generate disaffection and fatigue. I have been able to see in these weeks in which I have met with social agents and representatives of civil society that it is a common demand that in the Community of Madrid we need more dialogue and more agreement,” said Francisco Martín.
“On the part of the Government Delegation I assure you that I will always extend my hand to the Community of Madrid and to each municipality to work and cooperate in the general interest. I will do it with President Ayuso until the elections and, of course, I will do it with her or with the president who leaves the polls after May 28,” he concluded.
