A total of 71 students of 3rd and 4th year of ESO and 1st and 2nd year of Baccalaureate received this Friday at the National Library, in Madrid, the national awards of the Scientific Olympics 2025 and the recognition of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports for their successes in the international and Ibero-American phases of these competitions
Every year, thousands of students from all over the country compete in the autonomous phases of the Scientific Olympics, which give access to national competition in the subjects of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Economics and Informatics. Among the winners, there are two students from La Rioja: Erika Jiménez García, of 2nd baccalaureate, who is A in Chemistry, and Luisa Rafaela Sánchez Olave, of 2nd baccalaureate, 7th in Economics.
The event was chaired by the Secretary of State for Education, Abelardo de la Rosa, and the General Director of Educational Planning and Management, Susana Tejadillos, who congratulated the students and reiterated the Ministry's support for these competitions. “I hope that this opportunity will contribute to increasing your curiosity to continue discovering, and that it will give you the impulse to pursue that this world, which is changing faster and faster, is better,” said De la Rosa.
Among the winners, 12 students have attended who have listened to the motivating words of Rocío García Rubio, director of the Galileo program at Thales Alenia Space Spain and mentor in the STEM Talent Girl program, who has encouraged them to break the gender stereotypes that limit the promotion of talent in these disciplines.
We must highlight the participation of the Valencian Community, which, in this call, has won fifteen medals in the national phases of the different disciplines, being the most awarded autonomous community, followed by Madrid and Catalonia.
The event was attended by representatives of the scientific societies of the different disciplines, as well as family members of the students. The winners have received, in addition to the recognition, prizes worth 500, 750 and 1,000 euros, depending on the category.
