The Committee on Migratory Flows reported this morning that, for the first time, for approximately two decades in the agricultural sector, a procurement file has been processed at source. Specifically, in a company located in Alfaro for the fruit campaign.
After the company included a job offer for 50 people in the Employment Office and ten people accepted it, it proceeded to the necessary procedures for the recruitment in origin in Senegal of the remaining 40. The incorporation took place in mid-June and they will be working until 30 September.
It is a stable and non-circular contingent, that is, they are only allowed to work in this company, which is responsible for assuming the expenses of travel and accommodation. In this way, after carrying out the necessary procedures to make this first initial procedure possible to make the call of these people for their recruitment at origin, in future campaigns it is facilitated that these same workers can return to work with the same company, which has expressed its interest that they can be hired during four campaigns.
Members of the Commission have appreciated the information received on the recruitment of quotas because the recruitment of labour in agricultural campaigns is becoming more and more complicated.
During the meeting of the Committee on Migratory Flows, it has been said that the pilot experience that was implemented in the previous campaign to control identity theft will continue. In 2024, for the first time, the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate, the National Police and the Civil Guard attended in the same operation with computer systems that allowed both identities and those registered in Social Security to be checked in situ, facilitating that immediate action be taken in cases detected as non-regular.
