According to the Crime Balance for 2024, La Rioja closed 2024 with a crime rate that stood at 36.9 criminal offenses per thousand inhabitants, a figure that keeps this autonomous community as the fourth safest in Spain. The country’s average crime rate was 50.6.
Compared to the previous year, it recorded a decrease of eight tenths at the end of 2023 with a crime rate of 37.7.
The delegate of the Government in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, specifies that “our autonomous community is consolidated as one of the safest regions in Spain, where the reinforcement of the staff of police officers is being significant”.
In this regard, Arraiz Nalda highlights that “once again, La Rioja achieved the record number of police officers available in the autonomous community by reaching the historic figure of 1,636 civil guards and national police.” This figure represents a positive variation of agents of 11.8% compared to 2017, when 1,463 agents were assigned in the region. In just one year, La Rioja has 104 more agents.
For the delegate, “this increase in personnel is having a direct impact on security levels and shows that the crime rate in La Rioja has decreased, as has the crime rate in Logroño and Calsalvo.”
This Crime Report, published on the website of the Ministry of the Interior, shows the evolution of criminal offences registered by the National Police and Civil Guard in La Rioja.
