The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) payroll reached 4,276 households in Rioja in June, in which 12,977 people live, according to the latest statistics published by the National Social Security Institute (INSS). The average amount of the benefit is 503.68 euros per household and, overall, this month’s payroll has amounted to 2.53 million euros in the Autonomous Community.
In the month of June, there are 779 active benefits more than there were a year ago in La Rioja, which means an increase of 22.28%. These households are home to 2,733 beneficiaries more than those registered in June 2023 (+26.7%).
In cumulative terms since June 2020, when this benefit was launched, in the midst of a pandemic, the IMV has reached 5,824 homes in La Rioja and has protected the 17,515 people who are part of them. Of all these, almost 8,000 are boys, girls and adolescents, in particular 7,978, 45.5% of the total.
Since the entry into force of this policy, the Social Security has allocated 82.6 million euros to pay the payroll of the IMV benefits in this autonomous community.
Minors
The IMV is a benefit aimed at preventing the risk of poverty and social exclusion of people who live alone or are integrated into a coexistence unit and lack basic economic resources. In addition, one of its main objectives is to address child poverty.
65.7% of the living units receiving this benefit in La Rioja in June are households with minors (2,793). Among them, there are 723 single-parent households. If we look at the profile of the beneficiaries of the IMV, 42.7% are minors: 5,554.
If the statistics are disaggregated by means of access to the benefit, it is seen that the beneficiaries of the IMV-CAPI (Child Support Supplement) this month reach 2,821 households. This form of IMV involves an aid of 115 euros per household per month in the case of children from 0 to 3 years; 80.5 euros per month for each child between 3 and 6 years; and 57.5 euros per month for each child between 6 and 18 years. The average amount of the supplement this month has been 67.51 euros for each minor.
The beneficiaries of the IMV in this autonomous community are also characterized by having a marked female profile. In June, 57% of headlines and 52.6% of beneficiaries are women.
On the other hand, 66.8% of the total number of holders are of Spanish nationality and their average age is 46 years.
