The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has today started the annual review, maintenance and repair of the facilities in the Piqueras tunnel, located between km 261,453 to 263,897 of the N-111 road, between the Autonomous Communities of Castilla y León (province of Soria) and La Rioja.
Thus, for reasons of road safety, from this Monday and in the next days 18, 19 and 20 June, the tunnel to traffic will be closed between 8:00 and 20:00 hours of each day. However, the Piqueras tunnel will remain open to traffic during the night hours.
For as long as it remains closed, traffic will be diverted along the old N-111 road running through the port of Piqueras, which was in circulation before the tunnel was put into service in October 2008.
This annual review will include the regular inspection and maintenance of all tunnel installations, as well as the necessary repairs, especially the ventilation system, lighting, variable message panels and closed-circuit television, as well as the repainting of road markings, both lines and cebreings.
