Passengers on Renfe’s Media Distancia trains in La Rioja increased by more than 54% in 2023 compared to last year’s data. At the provisional end of the year, the operator had registered about 185,000 users on its Public Service trains.
In 2023, 184,942 passengers used Renfe’s Media Distancia trains in La Rioja, which represented an increase of 54.63% compared to the data of 2022, when 119,598 users were registered.
Renfe’s Media Distancia service in La Rioja allows travelers to move between Logroño and Zaragoza and allows intraterritorial mobility to the Rioja municipalities of Agoncillo, Alcanadre, Calsalvo, Rincón de Soto and Alfaro. In addition, the operator offers combined tickets for these trains with other Medium Distance services as well as Long Distance and High Speed services to travel between Logroño and Madrid, Lleida, Tarragona or Barcelona. These tickets, which link two trains, are guaranteed and are more economical than two purchased separately.
The use of Media Distancia trains in La Rioja prevented around 123,300 road trips and the emission of 2,515 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in 2023.
