The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has signed a service contract in the amount of 427,474.09 euros (VAT included) for the drafting of the project to remodel the link of the AP-68 and the N-232 in Calahorsa, in La Rioja. The corresponding announcement will soon be published in the Official State Gazette.
The estimated budget for the execution of the works amounts to 9.5 million euros (VAT included) and will be executed around the kilometric point 361.6 of the N-232 and 174.5 of the AP-68.
The purpose of the contract is to define, with the required level of detail to a project and a construction project, the complete refurbishment of the link of the N-232 for its connection with the AP-68, and of the existing connection link of the AP-68 with the LR-134 for access to Calsalvo.
The project that will be drafted will follow the solution of scenario 3, approved in the “Preliminary study on analysis of the distribution of traffic demand after the suppression of the toll on the AP-68 Bilbao–Zaragoza highway and the need for actions in the State Road Network in La Rioja” carried out by the State Road Demarcation in that autonomous community, and from which this action is derived.
Currently, the connection of the AP-68 motorway with the N-232 in the surroundings of Calsalvo is made through the toll area located at km 174,500 of said motorway. The toll area connects by means of a roundabout the road LR-134, of access to Calsalvo and of autonomous ownership, with the N-232 through two intersections at level that incorporate the two senses of the N-232.
These connections from the motorway to the road already present road safety problems at the intersections and are expected to be increased once the AP-68 is toll free (the concession ends in November 2026), as the entry and exit traffic increase, so it is considered necessary to carry out a complete remodeling of the whole before said release.
