This morning, in units of the 10th Zone of the Civil Guard in La Rioja, the delegate of the Government, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, accompanied by the interim chief colonel, Enrique Moure Lavilla, attended the welcome ceremony of the 17 new agents destined for the autonomous community, in total 13 men and 4 women.
With this addition, there will be a total of 822 Civil Guard troops in the Tenth Zone and in the Traffic sector - 695 men and 127 women.
The incorporation of these new agents in "practices", who have received their training in the Academy of Guards of Baeza (Jaén) and in the College of Young Guards of Valdemoro (Madrid), strengthens the Citizen Security units distributed in the province of La Rioja, improving the quality of the service that the Civil Guard provides to citizens in this autonomous community.
They have been assigned to 6 of the 26 posts of the four territorial companies of the Civil Guard in La Rioja, which are responsible for providing security to 173 of the 174 municipalities of Rioja - all of La Rioja less Logroño.

La Rioja will reach 1,642 members of the National Police and Civil Guard, among whom are those belonging to the Rural Action Unit of the Civil Guard that is located in this autonomous community, thanks to the gradual incorporation to its police stations or barracks during these summer days of the latest promotions of agents who have passed the initial training process in the academies of each body.
The organic growth of the staff of the National Police and Civil Guard has been possible through the five successive public employment offers convened on the joint initiative of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function and the Ministry of the Interior, all of them with replacement rates greater than one hundred percent.
This call for proposals with a number of places offered much higher than the number of places to be covered has allowed a total of 179 net places to be recovered in five years, which represents an increase of 12.2% since 2017.
However, during the previous seven years, there had been a sustained decline in agents, with a total loss of 238 troops between 2011 and 2017, a process that has been practically reversed in five years.
Thus, the number of troops in La Rioja in 2017 fell to 1,463 National Police and Civil Guard agents compared to 1,701 in 2011.
