The data analyzed at the Local Security Board of Haro certifies the increase in crime levels, reaching 42.03 criminal offenses per thousand inhabitants in 2022, almost 18 points above those obtained in 2021 (24,57).
The delegate of the Government of Spain in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, and the mayor of Haro, Laura Rivado, presided this morning the meeting in which they analyzed the evolution of security in this municipality.
With regard to the rate of clarification of clarified criminal offenses, it stands at 32.92%, down from 40.85% in 2021. The number of detainees and investigated increased from 38 detainees and 39 investigated in 2021 to 40 and 61, respectively, in 2022.
According to the data offered by the Civil Guard, in 2022 it became aware of 489 infractions in Haro, the most common being the Internet scam, almost one in six reported. Specifically, the significant increase in scams through the use of new technologies is from 1 in 2021 to 79 in 2022.
This type of crime becomes one of the main causes of the worsening of security levels in Haro, both because of the increase in the scams committed and because of the difficulty of solving them.
Therefore, the Civil Guard wants to transfer to the victims that more than 40% of cybercrimes could be prevented with training and common sense.
- Prevent children from making unexpected purchases over the Internet, through Apps or video games, without being supervised by parents.
- Ensure that the person responsible for the online store and its location are identified on the website.
- Check that the store is secure and provides you with the information you need about consumption and processing of personal data.
- If possible, use an exclusive use card to make online payments.
- Distrust of the offers too attractive, since it could be a fraudulent website.
- Do not forget to check that the devices are configured correctly and that the internet connection is secure before providing personal data or payment data.
- Never send cash to complete a purchase, carefully choose the payment method.
- Remember that businesses with trusted stamps offer greater guarantees.
- Check if they request money in advance, the item may never reach its recipient.
On the other hand, the Local Security Board has valued the reduction of crimes in the agricultural and livestock farms of Haro. Thanks to the prevention work of the Civil Guard in these areas, last year there was no strong robbery, while in 2021 5 were reported.

Of these, 7 present an unappreciated level of risk, 12 low, 4 medium irrigation and none high or extreme.
