The Secretary of State for Security, Aina Calvo, trusted this Friday in the effectiveness of the migration policy of cooperation with the countries of origin and transit of migration to “reverse the increase in arrivals” to the Balearic Islands, and recalled that “migratory flows are changing and dynamic”, referring to the decrease that is taking place in the Canary Islands in recent months.
After a working meeting with the government delegate in the autonomous community, Alfonso Rodríguez, in Palma, Calvo highlighted the work carried out in the whole of Spain that has allowed the reduction of irregular arrivals by more than 40 percent, and has advocated a “regular, orderly and safe migration”.
Calvo has praised the “impeccable” efforts of the State Security Forces to address “the migration challenge” and has highlighted the “essential” institutional collaboration that is being carried out with the State Secretariat for Migration to meet the needs of migrants.
The Secretary of State for Security has highlighted the investment made since 2018 in the State Security Forces and Corps, with the incorporation of more than 13,000 new troops, the average salary increase of 38 percent and the investment of 1 billion in infrastructure. In the area of the Balearic Islands, he mentioned two imminent projects, that of the new National Police station in Maó and the new quartering of the Civil Guard in the town of Santanyí, in Mallorca.
