The scrapping of these boats was awarded in January to the company Herbusa and a second administrative procedure is already under way to eliminate the remaining boats that remain in the custody of the Consell de Formentera and the municipalities.

The Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands, through the Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State (AGE) in Ibiza and Formentera, has proceeded to the destruction of about half a hundred boats arrived on the coasts of the Pitiüses in recent months. Specifically, it is about thirty boats in Ibiza and more than a dozen in Formentera, which had been removed from the public space by the Council of Formentera and the municipalities, in compliance with their competences.
The process of decontamination and dismantling of these precarious boats used in irregular migratory traffic was awarded in January to the company Herbusa and a second administrative procedure is already under way to eliminate another twenty boats that remain guarded by the Formentera Council and the municipalities. Once transferred to Ibiza, the boats are dismantled with rotating chain machines.
The Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands and the DIAGE in Ibiza and Formentera underline their willingness to continue with the destruction of the precarious boats that are abandoned on the coast upon arrival on the islands, in collaboration with the other administrations and with those responsible for awarding these works.
