The Government Delegation collaborates with the Felib, Red Cross and Caritas in the coordination of Balears’ solidarity aid to DANA victims in the Valencian Community
The Government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the President of the Federation of Local Entities of the Balearic Islands (Felib), Jaume Ferriol; the Autonomous Coordinator of the Red Cross in the islands, Ana Espinosa, and the Secretary General of Caritas Mallorca, Jaume Bauzá, met this morning in order to establish collaboration protocols between the Government Delegation and these entities for the effective organization of the delivery of humanitarian aid to people affected by the effects of DANA in the Valencian Community.
At this time it is recommended to make donations of money, since they are considered as the best means for the entities acting in the affected territory to adapt their response to the needs raised by the affected population and, in addition, they represent support for the local economy and reduce the costs involved in the transfer of material. In fact, both the Red Cross and Caritas and Felib are exclusively channeling their campaigns for the capture of aid through bank accounts specifically intended for this purpose. The Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), which channels donations of material and resources by the different Spanish municipalities, has reported in recent hours that, due to logistics and storage problems, it is preferable to provide money instead of sending food, goods or clothing.
The government delegate has sent a message of “deep appreciation to the people of Balears, for their rapid response in the form of solidarity towards the many families who are living through terrible times due to the devastation caused by this weather emergency episode in our country.” “In the face of such a catastrophe, it is essential to provide all possible support from all territories so that the affected population can begin to recover from this very hard blow,” said Rodríguez Badal.
The Government delegation has made itself available to organizations working to raise these resources for assistance to DANA victims throughout the process of recovery and restoration of the affected areas, which, according to the entities themselves, will be long and costly.
