Government delegation demands full compliance with the protocol for the protection of victims of gender violence in Palma
The Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands stressed this Friday its “firm and irrevocable commitment to the fight against gender violence, through the provision of all the resources necessary for this purpose”. In these terms, the delegate, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has spoken in relation to the announcement made yesterday, Thursday, by the City of Palma, on its intention to reduce the intervention of the Local Police in the functions agreed between both parties, through the Viogén protocol signed in 2022.
Rodríguez Badal expressed his satisfaction with the rectification made a few minutes ago by the mayor of Palma, who has assured that the Local Police of Palma will continue to comply with the obligations established in that protocol, in collaboration with the National Police.
The Government Delegation will continue to guarantee the safety and protection of victims of gender-based violence by the State Security Forces and Bodies and through all the necessary resources. In this regard, it recalls that the City of Palma receives funding from the Government of Spain for the implementation of the State Pact against Gender Violence, which in the last two years has exceeded 300,000 euros. This is a sign of the Government’s commitment and its willingness to maintain the current agreement on the same terms, so as not to take away any recourse for the victims of this scourge.
