Conference in Sa Riera on the benefits of collaboration between Science, Armed Forces and Security for society
The Territorial Unit of the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain and the Defense Delegation in the Balearic Islands organized yesterday in the Assembly Hall of the Sa Riera Building in Palma a Conference on “Science, Armed Forces and Security”, to analyze the way in which collaboration between these three areas has a positive impact on today’s society. The joint work of public research, defense and citizen security agencies is fundamental in aspects such as protection against new risks, such as cyberattacks or climate change and its consequences.
The day, which culminated in a round table moderated by Pedro Robledo, head of the IGME-CSIC Unit in the Balearic Islands, also included the participation of Jesús Lanza, delegate of Defense in the Balearic Islands; Salud Deudero, director of the Oceanographic Center of the Balearic Islands (IEO-CSIC); Lieutenant Colonel Constantino Fernández García, of the Operations Division of the General Staff of the Spanish Army; Javier Galias, professor of the Department of Biology of the UIB, and Pedro Seona.
