The deadline for the application of aid for the maritime and air transport of goods for the Balearic industry is open
The State Secretariat for Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has opened the deadline for receiving applications for aid for maritime and air freight transport for the industrial sector of the Balearic Islands, which ends on March 28. This compensation system is recognized in the Special Regime for the Balearic Islands (REB) and is intended both for the supply of raw materials to the archipelago and for the transport of final products transformed to the Peninsula.
The resolution has been published this week in the BOE and, in order to expedite the resolution of the requests, both their presentation and the processing of the same will be done electronically through https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es.
The Ministry of Territorial Policy, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, has made available to industrial companies the specific computer application for processing grant applications. This initiative has been promoted by the Government’s delegate to the Balearic Islands, Aina Calvo.
Compensation for the insular event
These subsidies cater for the insular situation in order to correct or compensate for a set of disadvantages that affect, among other areas, the transport and conditions of supply of raw materials for industrial manufacturing, as well as the transport of the final product between islands or outside the archipelago. The objective is to help the entrepreneurs of the archipelago compete on equal terms with those of the continental territory. Royal Decree-Law 4/2019 of the Special Regime of the Balearic Islands meant a substantial consolidation of this compensation system, which establishes as sectors of preferential attention the industries of wood, fur, footwear, leather, leather, leather goods, clothing, jewelery and jewelry, handcrafted products, transformed industrial products or articles for human nutrition.
In turn, the transformed industrial products can be divided into subsectors such as: graphic and related arts, manufacture and/or glass products, manufacture of products for the construction, cutting, carving and finishing of stone, manufacture of metal products, shipbuilding, manufacture of articles of paper and cardboard, chemical industry, and other various products not contemplated in the previous ones.
Companies with establishments located in the islands that transform the goods, as well as distributors of the processed products and originators of the Balearic archipelago, may be beneficiaries of the aid if the manufacturing company does not have that distribution capacity.
