The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, visited in Monterroso the center of the NGO Rescue, which participates in the Reception Program of International and Temporary Protection of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, intended to attend and accompany applicants and beneficiaries of international and temporary protection who lack financial resources. Accompanied by the coordinator of the center, Catalina Trobat, and by the coordinator of Administration and Finance of NGO Rescue, Rebeca López, the delegate knew at first hand the work that the entity develops and the different services it provides to favor the autonomy and integration of the people served.
Since its inception almost two years ago, all the people who pass through this resource receive comprehensive care that includes maintenance and accommodation, social, psychological, legal and cultural support and accompaniment, as well as interpretation services, language teaching and translation, job and professional guidance. In addition, they have an individualized itinerary aimed at promoting their autonomy and social and labor integration, with actions aimed at guaranteeing minimum conditions of dignity and facilitating their incorporation into society.
"Migrants have the right to a dignified life and an opportunity to integrate into a society like the Galician one, a welcoming society, as many and many in this country did before. Migration is an opportunity for Galicia," said the delegate.
The result of this process of accompaniment is also reflected in labor incorporation. Currently, more than 50 people assisted by the program are working in the region, mainly in the construction, hospitality, livestock and agriculture sectors.
Pedro Blanco stressed that "this reality demonstrates that reception and integration are processes that benefit both the people who arrive and the communities that receive them", and highlighted the example of coexistence that represents Monterroso and its region.
The delegate thus claimed the commitment of the Government of Spain with the defense of human rights and with a reception model that combines protection, accompaniment and integration, while thanking the professionals of NGO Rescue and the entities that collaborate in the development of this program in Galicia.

This government program has a network of resources and services aimed at caring for people in vulnerable situations who arrive in Spanish territory, offering from social and health care and emergency care to support to meet basic needs and move towards personal and work autonomy.
