The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today reaffirmed the government’s commitment to infrastructure and the continuous improvement of road safety. It did so during the visit to the construction works of the new roundabout on the N-651 road as it passed through the town hall of Paderne, at the crossing that leads the Velouzás and Ribeira de Chantada and that is executed by the Ministry of Transport. The performance eliminates one of the black points of the road and responds to an old demand of the municipality and the people who use this road.
The delegate was accompanied during the visit by the mayor of Paderne, Sergio Platas, to whom he thanked the “joint work to respond to the demands of the citizens”. “This type of action,” he said, “shows that the government is committed to improving infrastructure, security and quality of life in municipalities.” At the same time, he recalled that, “although it is a small work, it will have a great impact for the people who use this way.” “Actions like this are great news for the neighborhood,” he said, reiterating the commitment of the Government of Spain to continue moving forward in eliminating dangerous points and responding to the real needs of the territories.”
Work will be done to ensure that the works are executed as soon as possible, if possible, throughout this year 2025. The work has a budget of more than 123,000 euros, financed from the contract of conservation and exploitation of the state roads in the province of A Coruña, endowed with 25.6 million euros.
This infrastructure will increase safety at an intersection where several accidents have been recorded in recent years, in addition to conditioning the existing bus stop in the area, thus also improving access to public transport for the neighborhood.
The new roundabout will have a radius of 6.5 meters, with an arcén of approximately one meter and lanes of 3.5 meters wide. Its construction will allow the traffic to be completely reorganized, improving connectivity and security.
