The delegate supervised the final completion of the project, to which about 400,000 euros were allocated to recover the transit servitude between Os Castelos and the beach of Fomento. He stressed that the new path will connect emblematic natural spaces and improve accessibility in an environment of high cultural and landscape value. Pedro Blanco thanked the work of the Coast Service in Lugo “for the constant concern for the preservation and recovery of the coast of the province for use and enjoyment of citizenship”

The Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted in O Vicedo the commitment of the Government to the recovery and improvement of the Galician coast during the visit to the new coastal path between Os Castelos and the beach of Fomento. The delegate was accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, the mayor of O Vicedo, Jesús Novo, and the head of the Coastal Demarcation of Galicia, Carlos Gil.

“The path that we inaugurated today perfectly symbolizes our commitment to a public, sustainable and accessible coastline. We talk about an investment close to 400,000 euros that opens a new space for the enjoyment of citizens, in an enclave of enormous natural and tourist value,” said the delegate.

The action, executed by the Provincial Service of Coasts and the Demarcation of Coasts in Galicia, recovers the connection between two emblematic natural spaces of this town hall of the Lucense Marina, with a route of 395 meters and an accessible route integrated into the landscape.

Pedro Blanco also stressed that this work is one more of the multiple actions that the Government of Spain has been promoting on the Lucense coast in recent years, with such significant interventions as the restoration of dune ecosystems or the creation of trails in Foz and Barreiros.

“In total, we have invested more than 5.5 million euros in projects promoted by Costas in the province of Lugo since 2018, with a clear objective: to preserve our coastal heritage, improve its environmental status and open these spaces to citizens in conditions of quality and safety,” he said.

Improvements in O Vicedo

The pedestrian path between Os Castelos and the beach of Fomento, with a length of 395 meters and an average width of 2 meters, was designed to guarantee accessibility with soft slopes and a route that puts value on the landscape richness of the area. The action allows to recover the old transit servitude, improving pedestrian mobility and favoring the public use of a coastal enclave of great environmental interest.
