The subdelegate in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, presided this morning the presentation of the 17 student guards who are joining different positions in the province since this week to complete their period of professional training.
No event, held in the auditorium of the Commander of the Civil Guard of Lugo, the deputy delegate was accompanied by the chief colonel, Luis Germán Avilés, who also welcomed the students. Isabel Rodríguez expressed her appreciation and thanks to the new members of the body: “You are taking the first steps in an essential profession to guarantee security, freedom and democratic coexistence, and you are doing so in a province where the Civil Guard has the respect and trust of the citizens,” he said.
The subdelegate highlighted the commitment of the Government of Spain to strengthen public security throughout the territory, “with a commitment to equality and professionalization of security forces and bodies.” Rodríguez recalled that “the presence of more women in the Civil Guard is a sign of a more just, modern and egalitarian society, which the Government of Pedro Sánchez has been building with concrete facts for years.”
Of the 17 guard students —9 women and 8 men—, 12 belong to the 130th promotion of the Academy of Guards of Baeza (Jaén) and 5 to the 171st promotion of the College of Boy Guards “Duque de Ahumada” of Valdemoro (Madrid). Their ages range from 20 to 39 years, with an average of 26.3 years for women and 28.5 years for men.
During the next 10 months they will carry out the internships at the posts of the Civil Guard of the province, distributed among the companies of Lugo, Vilalba, Monforte and Burela. Specifically, they will carry out their activity in the positions of Lugo (1), Becerreá (2), Palas de Rei (1), Vilalba (2), Guitiriz (2), Sarria (2), Chantada (2), Burela (3) and Ribadeo (2).
At the end of this phase, they will move to the situation of commission of services until they obtain their first definitive destination as professional guards.
The event concluded with a group photo with the monolith of the Command, in an environment marked by illusion, responsibility and commitment to citizen security.
