The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided this morning the coordination meeting of the security operation for the celebration of the Feast of San Xoán, which will take place next Monday, June 23. The meeting was attended by the Councilor for Citizen and Internal Security, Montserrat Paz; the Director of Citizen Security of the City Council, Carlos García Touriñán; the provincial head of the National Police, as well as those responsible for the citizen security brigades and the Police Intervention Unit; the Chief Captain of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard; and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Government Delegation.
The party, declared of International Tourist Interest, will have a deployment of 115 agents of the National Police, with a reinforced presence in the beach areas. In addition, the Civil Guard Maritime Service will provide coverage from the sea. These officers will be added to the means available by the City of A Coruña.
The device will be coordinated from the Advanced Command Post, located in the Orzán Shell, in which the commands of the different security and emergency bodies will be integrated. The National Police will employ various surveillance systems to control the influx of public throughout the city.
Specialized units will also participate, such as subsoil equipment, Tedax and canine guides, which will inspect the promenade and the underground car parks. The mobile brigades will carry out preventive work at the train and bus stations, and the presence of patrols at other strategic points will be strengthened, in coordination with the Local Police.
The operation will have two drones, which can intervene if necessary, and which will also develop detection and inhibition tasks for unauthorized drones.
The collaboration between the National Police and the Local Police will be constant, with special attention to theft prevention. The National Police will also participate in the violet point that will be installed by the City Council and strengthen its Judicial Police team.
With a view to Tuesday, the 24th, the teams for receiving complaints will be strengthened, both to attend to the appearances of the patrols and to the people who need to file a complaint. This special device is based on the experience accumulated in previous years.
The subdelegate of the Government appealed to the responsibility of the citizens and encouraged the people who come to enjoy this emblematic party to follow the indications of the State Security Forces and Local Police, as well as to avoid carrying unnecessary objects of value, in order to prevent possible thefts or losses. These recommendations will be reinforced throughout the day through megaphone services.
The device will also include the participation of a Civil Guard vessel that will carry out surveillance work at sea, as well as the collaboration of Salvamento Maritimo, which will be activated if necessary.
