The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, renewed today in A Coruña the commitment to continue fighting in the remaining two years of the legislature so that Galicia “achieves the best return of the moment that Spain is living”. He did so in the week that is two years since the announcement of his appointment as head of the Government of Spain in the Autonomous Community.
Pedro Blanco took stock of these first two years in office at an informative breakfast held at the headquarters of the Government Delegation. In it, he insisted on the will to maintain the intense pace of work of these two years to improve Galicia and the life of the Galicians and the Galicians, warning that “this does not stop” in allusion to the advances that the Community will add in the coming months .
From these two years, the delegate claimed the achievements of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, “the most progressive in history”, highlighting the advances in rights and the consolidation of the Welfare State while achieving the best economic and labor figures in recent history. The impact of the action of the Government of Spain in the Community reveals that “the Government of Pedro Sánchez was and is the best Government for Galicia”, meant Pedro Blanco, both in investments, and in transfers.
Thus, he recalled that the recent balance sheet of four years of implementation of the Recovery Plan already spoke of more than 4,000 million euros invested in Galicia, in the transformation of the economy and the territory. In addition to these investments, there are the largest transfers to the Autonomous Community and to the concellos of history. In infrastructure, the delegate stressed that these years were those of the unblocking of historically paralyzed projects in railways, roads, ports and airports.
Works that are already in different phases of execution and that will bring, in a short time, a substantial improvement in communications and mobility in the whole of Galicia.
A Government of Action
This precedent, said the delegate, is the best of the impulses for the future: “We are a Government of Action, which is not satisfied and which wants to continue adding commitments and rights”. “Today Galicia is better than seven years ago, but we are not satisfied” and proof of that, he indicated, “the latest announcements of the president of the Government to respond to the main problems of people: new investment plans in housing; new visual health plan for our children and the mental health plan for the entire population, the future law of families to promote conciliation”.
Along with these rights, the delegate recalled the next advances in infrastructure such as the “end of the Santiago-Lugo motorway; the intermodal stations of Santiago, A Coruña, Lugo and Ourense; the railway connection of the external port of A Coruña and the humanizations of villas and cities”.
And he remarked that “in all of them, the Government Delegation and this delegate will be present, so that all of them are executed in time and form, to achieve the maximum benefit for Galicia”.
In this work of management and control, the delegate recognized the work and collaboration of the two sub-delegates, María Rivas and Isabel Rodríguez, s of the two sub-delegates, Abel Losada and Eladio Santos, in the Galician provinces, bringing the Government of Spain to the last corner of Galician territory.
A task that, the delegate stressed, will continue to do with institutional loyalty and keeping the doors open of the Delegation for all citizens: “We are Galicians and Galicians who from the Government Delegation work for the Galicians and for the Galicians”.
Two years of management
On June 9, 2023, the Government announced the appointment of jurist Pedro Blanco Lobeiras as government delegate in the Autonomous Community of Galicia, in replacement of José Manuel Gómez Besteiro. Four days later, the Council of Ministers ratified this announcement by approving the Royal Decree of Appointment, which was published the following day in the Official State Gazette.
From his inauguration, Pedro Blanco traveled to more than 100 Galician concellos and attended more than 1,500 meetings, meetings and official events, which forced him to travel 203,000 kilometers.
Today, after the informative breakfast, Pedro Blanco will supervise the execution of the variant of Ourense, will present the results of the “Copernicus” police operation, in that same city; will hold a working meeting with mayors and mayors of the Region of Verín, and, finally, will attend the ceremony of the II Company of the Year Awards of Galicia in the last hour of the afternoon in Vigo.
