The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, presided today in the City of Burela the Local Security Board in order to coordinate the necessary measures to ensure the correct development of the patron saint’s parties that are held until Tuesday, June 3, as well as other events planned for this summer.
During the meeting, which was attended by the mayor and representatives of the Civil Guard, Traffic, Emergencies and Local Police subsector, together with members of the municipal government, the situation of citizen security was also addressed, confirming that in 2024 a low crime rate was maintained, with an average of 27.65 crimes per 1,000 inhabitants.
In addition, within the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of School Safety in Schools and their Environments, 38 lectures on cyberbullying, male violence or additions were given in schools in the municipality, with the collaboration of the Civil Guard.
Regarding gender violence, the number of complaints during 2024 in Burela was 9, and currently there are 32 active cases registered in the city council within the VioGén system.
Isabel Rodríguez highlighted the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to the development of equality policies and the promotion of the collective fight against gender violence.
The deputy delegate thanked the forces and bodies for their commitment to citizen security and highlighted the work of the City Council in promoting festivals and activities that value the cultural heritage of the province.
