The subdelegate pointed out the importance of training the technical staff of the Social Services as well as social entities and migrants in this type of management, especially at this time of regulatory change. Officials of the Office of Foreigners of A Coruña moved the novelties of Reloex, insisting on the reduction of the deadlines and procedures necessary to reside and work legally in Spain.
The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, today highlighted the work of the Office of Foreigners of the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña to guarantee the attention of the migrants of the province before the entry into force, today, Tuesday, of the new Regulation of Foreigners (Reloex).
María Rivas presented today a training day on new regulations on migrants and the procedures associated with it organized by the Subdelegation of the Government and the Council of Ames. The day was held at the House of Culture of Bertamiráns and had as its target audience entities of migrant groups and social services personnel from concello, which has a high rate of migrant population in its register.
The subdelegate inaugurated this training action together with the mayor of Ames, Blas García. In his speech, he stressed the importance of this type of specific training, since many of the procedures associated with migrants can already be carried out electronically.
For María Rivas, this initiative reinforces the objective that the Government set itself with the new Regulation on Foreigners, which is none other than to strengthen regular and safe migration.
The regulation seeks to guarantee a clear, stable and fair framework for migrants, to access both residence and purchased labour: “Because everyone has the right to live in dignity, to work legally and to participate actively in the life of their community,” Rivas added.
The deputy delegate of the Government recalled that the Government comes from approving the reinforcement, with four new people, of the Office of Foreigners of the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña to meet the needs derived from the entry into force of Reloex.
He highlighted the professionalism of all the staff of this office, which last year dealt with more than 15,700 requests and managed to reduce by five years on average the resolution of the files from 83 days to less than 24 days.
Training day
The activity held today in Ames is part of the program ‘Lana Administración cerca de ti’, developed by the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory to bring together the electronic services offered by the General Administration of the State. In addition, it coincides with the national celebration of ‘Open Administration Week 2025’.
During the morning, a team of professionals from the Immigration Office of A Coruña trained an audience of 55 professionals around the new Regulation and provided them with the digital certificate to carry out this type of procedures, which will allow them to provide support and service to many migrants of this City Council avoiding having to travel to the offices of the city of A Coruña.
