The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, celebrated the Day of the Galician Letters in the concello of A Coruña in which the starting pistol was given today for a weekend full of activities around the celebration.
Rivas thanked the concello for recognizing the relevance of the pandereteras and cantareiras in the community and in the province. “A Coruña reaffirms, once again, its commitment to language, tradition and our identity,” said the deputy delegate.
“Adolfina Casás, Rosa Casás, Eva Castiñeira, Manuela Lema, Teresa García, Prudencia Garrido and Asunción Garrido are names that remind us of our history, which bring us closer to our origins,” added the deputy delegate.
The programming around the Day of Galician Letters began at the beginning of this month and will last until June 14 with more than 40 activities for all audiences.
